Depression Cure
Of all the hidden illnesses that are known to man perhaps one of the most devastating of all is depression. The illness can sit idle for years before rearing its ugly head. When it finally does decide to show itself it can claim the life of its victim in a matter of weeks. Of course, suicide is the most obvious method but even for those who manage to take the next breath life can be drastically different. While many people affected by depression continue to exist I would hardly call it living. Many completely withdraw from friends and family and stop participating in favorite activities. They can be robbed of their drive and desires. Truly, someone suffering from depression can be an empty shell of their old self. A depression cure is desperately needed as this illness already affects millions of people worldwide.
Currently there is not a depression cure but rather a wide variety of treatments. These treatments range from counselor visits to in patient care administered by health care professionals. Often times the treatment will depend on the age of the patient and will always depend on the severity of symptoms. While it is possible a depression cure may be discovered in the coming years I highly doubt there will ever be a one size fits all type of cure. Many factors go into why a person develops depression and how severe that depression is. An even greater number of factors will likely go into how a certain cure may work. Some people only experience mild depression hardly noticeable by those around them while others suffer from more serious forms including bipolar or manic depression. It is likely these forms will require a specialized depression cure. Currently doctors lean toward subscribing multiple drugs to help control the effects of manic or bipolar depression. Often those suffering from manic depression will be given an antidepressant and a mood stabilizer at the same time. The antidepressant by itself holds a certain danger to intensify the patient’s feelings. It is not uncommon for a new drug to have a negative reaction on a patient in some cases even leading to suicidal thoughts. If the patient does experience a bottoming out effect meaning they start to fall into a deep depression the mood stabilizer should help stop this.
It is up to you to push for a depression cure as the pharmaceutical industry is a multi-billion dollar a year business. How much money is in a cure? The answer is not much. How much money is in a treatment? The answer is A LOT. When a company can treat a patient they have a repeat customer. You have to come back again and again for medicine meaning the company makes more and more profit off your suffering. On the other hand if they were to create a cure you would come one time, be cured, and never come back. Sure they would stand to make a pretty penny off that one visit but nothing compared to the money they making just treating you. When talking with people affected by depression many of them described life as hell…For some of those of the Catholic faith I even heard life described as the purgatory before a person was to enter heaven. Life is short and we should enjoy every minute of it. You will never get a moment back. When it is gone it is gone forever. You shouldn’t be condemned to spending so much of your life in a personal hell. Fight for a depression cure.
Like all medicine a depression cure is likely to be a case of trial and error. I’ve never met someone who has succeeded without ever failing and medicine is no different. You have to fail before you can succeed and there are those dedicated to curing this terrible illness. Some of those in the mental health field are there for the right reasons and do care. If you or someone you know may be suffering from depression I do not want to discourage you from seeking professional help. There are many qualified professionals left in the medical field. I do suggest doing a little bit of research before beginning any drug or treatment.
